Snack Tips/Ideas
Tip #1: Drink Water! Drinking too much juice, etc. is not good for you! Water is the best source for hydrating your body!
Tip #2: Prepare grab and go snacks that the children can have access to! You have the control as to what goes in your child's body! Make good choices for them when they are young – and they will continue when they must make choices on their own!
Tip #3: Engage your child in the process of preparing food! Have them look at cooking magazines, have them grocery shop with you and have them help prepare the food! Yes – it does take twice as long to make dinner this way – but if you involve your kids in the making of baked potatoes (they love to scrub the skins and wrap them up in foil) – they will be more likely to eat the food! Kids love to cook! It's an incredible educational activity too!
Tip #4: The "thank-you" bite. When asking your kids to try something new that you have prepared – and you get that horrible look on their face :{ Ask them to take a "thank-you" bite in appreciation of the food they have on their plate. I have never had much luck getting my children to "clean" their plate – but this idea does work – especially when just you want them to just try something new!
